World Peace Day was established in 1981 to amplify the pursuits of peace by observing 24 hours of nonviolence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year\u2019s International Day of Peace theme is \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/media.un.org\/en\/asset\/k12\/k125gwjup6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">End racism. Build peace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his speech on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sg\/en\/content\/sg\/statement\/2022-03-18\/secretary-generals-remarks-general-assembly-event-the-international-day-for-the-elimination-of-racial-discrimination-bilingual-delivered-follows-scroll-further-down-for\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the UN\u2019s Secretary General noted that this year&#8217;s theme \u201ccalls on us to listen closely, to speak out loudly, and act decisively\u2026 the vision of a world free of racism and racial discrimination demands action every day, at every level, in every society\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOn the International Day of Peace, people come together in a show of solidarity. Join us in our celebrations and in making resolutions for each of us to do our part in working toward for environmental sustainability.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Jane Goodall, UN Messenger of Peace<\/span><\/i><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celebrating Peace Day can be as private or public as you\u2019d like it to be. There are a plethora of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/internationaldayofpeace.org\/get-involved\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ways you can commemorate the International Day of Peace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, whether it&#8217;s through <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldpeace.org\/peacepoleproject\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">planting peace poles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, volunteering in your community, or even <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.peaceripples.com\/bethepeace\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">meditating<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>At 12:00 noon, regardless of time zone, remember to join millions of people throughout the world for the PeaceWave. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PeaceWave is a unifying minute of silence\/moment of peace that dates back to September 21st, 1982.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Environmental degradation can lead to resource scarcity, conflict, war, and displacement, which can deepen historical inequalities. Equity, security, and the inclusion of diverse viewpoints are vital factors in achieving sustainable conservation success and protecting the rights of communities involved in conservation. Modern conservation is evolving to better incorporate diverse perspectives and values, but it is still a work in progress. At OneNature, we recognize the connection between a sustainable environment, equitable and inclusive wellbeing, and the promotion of peace.
