We at OneNature are thrilled to announce that we are officially a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). We are thrilled to be able to be a part of such an incredible union full of forward-thinking and ingenious minds focused on a common goal.
Since its creation in 1948, IUCN has become the largest and most diverse environmental network in the world with over 1,400 member organizations and 15,000 experts. IUCN is a membership Union made up of government and civil society organizations. This union provides all organizations, whether public, private, or non-governmental, with the necessary tools and resources to not only further human progress, economic development, and nature conservation but for them to coexist.
“IUCN is the only institution that brings governments and civil society together with one purpose: to advance sustainable development and create a just world that values and conserves nature. The Union’s diversity, depth and reach give its decisions a powerful mandate and its actions profound impact.”
The IUCN’s mission is to guarantee that any and all use of natural resources is equitable and environmentally sustainable while facilitating and aiding communities worldwide to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature. As an organization centered around the need to save wildlife, protect nature, and improve human communities, OneNature closely aligns with the IUCN’s mission statement. OneNature promotes the well-being of animals, people, and nature by conducting research to demonstrate the value of wildlife conservation to healthy and happy human communities. We use this research to empower community-based wildlife stewardship. We are building a movement for transformative change where the true values of wildlife and nature are embedded in our policies and practice leading to increased well-being for all.
