We created a ten-part guide, 10 Ways to Feel More Connected in Your Life, to help you deepen your connection to yourself, others, and the natural world around you. At OneNature, we believe that well-being and a sense of connection go hand in hand and our approach is deeply informed by the wisdom of indigenous and local communities and our research into the ties between human and environmental well-being.

In today’s fast-paced world, feeling connected to ourselves, others, and nature can be challenging. We’ve learned from Indigenous communities that spending time in nature is not just about recreation—it’s a sacred practice that strengthens our bond with the earth. Being in nature helps to reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance your sense of connection with the environment. Here are ten easy ways to get outside:

  • Take daily walks

Whether it’s ten minutes or an hour, going for a walk is an easy and rewarding way to get outside.

  • Plan weekend hikes

Gather some friends or family and venture to a local hiking trail to connect with nature and your loved ones.

  • Sightsee

Check out some of your local tourist destinations you may not have had the chance to visit yet.

  • Practice outdoor meditation or yoga

You can do this in your own backyard! Just grab a mat (optional) and follow a guided meditation or yoga routine.

  • Grow plants, herbs, or flowers in your garden

Gardening is a great way to ensure you spend time outdoors on a regular basis. If you live in an apartment, try balcony gardening or get involved in a local community garden.

  • Read in the park

Want to kill two birds with one stone? Grab a book you’ve been putting off and take a trip to your local park to sit and read with minimal distractions.

Plan a trip to one of our nation’s incredible national parks.

  • Explore parts of your town you’ve never been to

Explore local architecture by going for walks in neighborhoods you’ve never visited. Get to know your town and its surroundings!

Whether you’re new to your area or just want to meet new people, joining a local nature walk group is a great way to get outside while connecting with your community.

  • Take one of your meals outside

Opt for eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner outside.

At OneNature, our mission is to promote human well-being through innovative conservation and development projects that foster a harmonious coexistence between people, wildlife, and nature. We believe that by nurturing these connections, we can create a more sustainable and compassionate world.
