Welcoming our summer intern cohort exploring ethical AI, ESG strategy, community storytelling, and digital engagement.

At OneNature, we believe that meaningful change requires not only experience—but fresh ideas, bold thinking, and intergenerational collaboration. That’s why we’re deeply committed to involving youth in the future of sustainability, conservation, and community wellbeing.

This summer, we’re thrilled to welcome a talented, diverse group of interns who are helping us explore new frontiers—from ethical AI and ESG innovation to storytelling, research, and creative outreach. They join us from high school, undergraduate, and graduate programs across the U.S., united by a shared commitment to people, nature, and sustainable systems. We couldn’t be more excited to work with them.

Meet the bright minds shaping OneNature’s work this summer:

AJ Horkan OneNature Intern

A.J. Horkan
A.J. is a second-year graduate student at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, specializing in energy and environmental policy and data analytics. With a passion for community-based action and a clear eye on policy impact, A.J. is leading OneNature’s effort to align the Wild Happiness Index with ESG frameworks. By analyzing systems like GRI, SASB, and CSRD, he’s helping build a roadmap that brings meaningful social indicators into the heart of ESG reporting—bridging the gap between community wellbeing and corporate sustainability.

Emily Price OneNature Intern 2025

Emily Price
Emily is a rising second-year student at the University of Chicago, majoring in Economics and Political Science. On campus, she’s active in political advocacy, research, and journalism—and off campus, she finds inspiration hiking, camping, and playing violin in the symphony orchestra. At OneNature, Emily is transforming our past wellbeing-centered projects in places like Nepal, Rwanda, and Laos into a comprehensive Case Study Handbook. Her writing and synthesis skills are helping us share what works in real-world settings and why, building a living library of stories, impact, and community-driven design.

Sienn Cai OneNature Intern 2025

Sienn Cai
Sienn is a rising junior at the University of Chicago, triple majoring in Computational and Applied Math, Computer Science, and Statistics, with a further focus in Economics. Known for her sharp coding skills and playful curiosity—she once built a lottery prediction algorithm for fun—Sienn is helping shape OneNature as a leader in the application of ethical AI to wellbeing data collection and analysis. This summer, she’s developing tools to analyze community survey data, visualize Wild Happiness trends, and create an interactive dashboard for monitoring impact. Her work ensures that our AI systems remain grounded in ethics, equity, and local voice.

Ryan Ruggiero OneNature Intern 2025

Ryan Ruggiero
A rising junior at Virginia Commonwealth University, Ryan is majoring in Psychology with minors in Biology and Environmental Studies. His academic path reflects a deep interest in the connection between people, animals, and ecosystems. With strong research skills, Ryan is exploring how OneNature communicates wellbeing insights with community members, conservation partners, and institutional audiences. His work will help us refine the way we share findings—ensuring they are clear, useful, and actionable for the people who need them most.

Claire Freytag OneNature Intern 2025

Claire Freytag
Claire is entering her senior year at Berkeley High School and already stands out as a passionate environmental advocate. From producing a climate change project in middle school to being interviewed on British television during a climate protest, Claire brings a strong voice and bold ideas to the table. At OneNature, she’s leading our expansion on Social Media, specifically TikTok, experimenting with creative content to make wellbeing, conservation, and sustainability resonate with a younger audience.

From data science to digital media, and from policy research to storytelling, our 2025 interns are bringing new energy and perspective to OneNature.
